The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has announced to resume domestic flights on seven routes across the country from today July 15 till July 23 as the country lifts strict lockdown from the same day.
On July 13, the government decided to lift the ongoing strict lockdown for nine days ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
However, after Eid holidays, a strict nationwide 14-day lockdown will be enforced again from July 23 till August 5 as coronavirus cases keep rising in the country.
Thus, CAAB will again suspend flights from July 23 to August 5.
Nevertheless, currently, three local airlines have announced to resume schedule passenger flight on domestic routes from July 15.
Biman will operate three flights each to Chattogram and Sairpur, two each to Cox's Bazar, Jashore and Sylhet and one each to Rajshahi and Barishal.
US-Bangla will operate five daily flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, two flights to Cox's Bazar, seven to Saidpur, six to Jashore, and four each to Sylhet, Barishal, and Rajshahi.
Lastly, NOVOAIR will operate six daily flights each to Chattogram, Saidpur, and Jashore, four to Barishal, three each to Sylhet and Rajshahi, and two to Cox's Bazar.
However, none of them said they would increase any flight frequency. It depends on the passenger demand which is yet to see, said all three domestic airlines.
