DoE disconnects electricity of battery factory for breaking rule

Department of Environment in a drive on Wednesday at Lokkhonkhola area of Bandar upazila disconnected the electricity line of a battery factory due to violation of environment and nose deep irregularities.

A mobile court operated by executive magistrate Nusrat Arafat Khanam and the members of law enforcers helped the environment department work.

Deputy Director of Narayanganj environment office Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun and other officials were present during the drive.

The Deputy Director said that the Dongi Longevity battery factory once took a license that had expired a few years ago but did not renew again. 

Besides, the effluent treatment plant (ETP) was inactive; the condition of the inside factory was unhygienic and polluted the environment by the battery factory.

Considering humanity for living some workers inside the factory did not seal off.

The electricity line was disconnected as the factory does not run on operation without fulfilling the environment law, Mamun said.
