A doa mahfil seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Monowara Sikder, wife of Sikder Group founder late Zainul Haque Sikder, was held at 4:00pm on Thursday on the campus of Zainul Haque Sikder Women Medical College in the capital city of Dhaka.
All of her relatives, well-wishers and officials and employees of Sikder Group attended the programme.
Officials and employees of Sikder Group, well-wishers of Monowara Sikder and socio-political personalities, among others, attended the doa mahfil.
People from different adjacent areas, including Dhanmondi, Jigatola, Hazaribag and Mohammadpur, also participated in the programme.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Namaz-e-Janaza of Monowara Sikder was held on the campus of Zainul Haque Sikder Medical College in the capital city of Dhaka.
The janaza prayer was conducted by Maulana Zulfikar, Khatib of Dhanmondi Taqwa Jame Mosque.
Monowara Sikder was laid to eternal rest beside the grave of her husband Zainul Haque Sikder located on the medical college campus.
Monowara Sikder passed away on February 12 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the United States (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un).
Monowara Sikder, aged over 81-plus, was a former chairman of National Bank Limited. She had long been suffering from various illnesses and was surrounded by her children and other family members at the time of her passing.
Officials and employees of Sikder Group, as well as journalists and staff of Bangladesh Post, expressed deep condolences at her death and prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul.
