Doa mahfil held in Khulna in memory of July uprising martyrs

A doa mahfil, prayer ceremony, was held after Zuhr prayers on Tuesday at the Collectorate Jame Mosque in the city in remembrance of the July uprising martyrs.

Organised by the Khulna District Administration, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar attended the event as the chief guest.

He paid respectful tribute to those who were martyred and injured during the July Revolution, also known as the Student-People's mass uprising. 

He stated that the success of the July movement was made possible through the collective efforts of all. 

"Specifically, the unrest from July 1 to August 5, 2024, resulted in numerous casualties and injuries in the country and we have achieved a more equitable Bangladesh through their sacrifice," the Divisional Commissioner added. 

He emphasized the need to work together, setting aside all divisions, to build a truly discrimination-free Bangladesh.

Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Md. Rezaul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, City Unit BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, City Unit Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, Divisional Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Anisuzzaman, martyred Sakib Raihan's father Sheikh Azizur Rahman, coordinator of the city's anti-discrimination movement Al-Shahriar and NCP representative Ahmed Hamim Rahat attended, among others, at the prayers.
