Chattogram Zila Parishad on Thursday organised a doa mahfil for those who were killed and injured in the anti-discrimination student movement in Chattogram and other parts of the country on August 4-6.
The doa mahfil was held at the head office of Chattogram Zila Parishad to pray for the souls of those killed in the movement across the country, including Abu Sayeed, Md Farooq, Wasim Farooq and Ishmam, and the recovery of the injured persons. Later, the Qur'an was recited at the Zila Parishad Mosque to seek forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs.
Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Peyarul Islam, Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal, Executive Officer Md Didarul Alam, Executive Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam, Panel Chairman-1 Professor Nurul Mostafa Sikdar, Panel Chairman-2 Borhan Uddin Md Emran, Panel Chairman-3 Farhana Afrin Jinia and members AMM Dilshad, Engineer Islam Ahmad, HM Ali Abraha, Abdul Alim, Advo Jobaida Sarwar Nipa, Mostafa Rahila Chowdhury, Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty, Muhammad Siddikur Rahman, Roshan Ara Ratna, Akhtar Uddin Mahmud, freedom fighter Kazi Abdul Wahab, SM Alamgir Chowdhury, Debobrato Das, Erfanul Karim Chowdhury and Suraiya Khanam, among others, were present.
It should be noted that Hriday Chandra Tarua, who was killed in the anti-discrimination movement, was admitted to the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital in Dhaka and later to DMCH with the help of Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Peyarul Islam and students-teachers. The chairman and members of the Zila Parishad provided financial assistance to the dead and injured in their respective upazilas.
