A team of the Department of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) has unearthed a fake sanitary napkin manufacturing factory in Rajshahi city on Wednesday.
DNCRP Deputy Director Hassan Al Maruf said they conducted a drive in Terakhadia Mathurdanga area under Rajpara Police Station and found the factory manufacturing unhygienic sanitary napkins and pads.
They also found the factory functioning unlawfully and without permission of any legal authority. The napkins were being manufactured with substandard cotton, garments and abandoned clothes. Maruf said the produced napkins are totally harmful to female health.
Subsequently, the DNCRP team fined the factory owner Taka 20,000 for the irregularities, he added.
