DNCC to train imams in slaughtering sacrificial animals

Published : 19 May 2025 09:30 PM

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will train imams and butchers on slaughtering sacrificial animals and preparing meat in accordance with religious and health regulations on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

A notification, sent by DNCC, said this.

The announcement said that raw hides, especially cow’s raw hide, are one of the most exportable national resources. Most of the raw hides collected annually come from sacrificial animals.

But since the imams and meat producers concerned do not know the proper method of skinning sacrificial animals, the quality of this national resource is not maintained and it loses its exportability.

Keeping this in mind, training for imams and butchers has been organized this year in all 10 regions of DNCC under the direction of the administrator.

According to the instructions of DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, every animal market under DNCC will have a 14-member medical team, and they will be on duty around the clock this year.

For proper management of sacrificial animal waste and health risks, area-based sacrificial sites have been designated.

Local residents are being encouraged to sacrifice animals there so that animal waste can be easily and properly disposed of in a short time.
