Special operations will be conducted in northern part of Dhaka from December 22 to 30 in order to eradicate Culex mosquitoes. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam disclosed the information while addressing a meeting on Mosquito Control held at Nagar Bhaban, Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday.

He said that since a significant number of 925 Culex mosquito hotspots have already been identified in the north of Dhaka, it is under the purview of various agencies and departments including RAJUK and Water Development Board other than DNCC.

The DNCC mayor said that it is not possible for anyone to eradicate mosquitoes on their own. A joint effort by the authorities and the general people is required to tackle the situation.

The DNCC mayor said that the ongoing social movement should be made successful by implementing the slogan "Clean your houses, 10 minutes every Saturday at 10 am".

People should remain self-aware and not hesitate to regularly clean their own houses for their own well-being.

He further said that with the joint efforts of all, Dhaka should be freed from the clutches of illegal occupation, pollution and ill-motivated people in order to transform it into a healthy, beautiful, modern and livable city for all.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of DNCC Md Selim Reza, senior officials and heads or representatives of various government and non-government organizations and departments.
