The newly incorporated 18 wards of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will get four-lane roads at a cost of Tk 4025 crore.

It will be implemented in coordination with the Capital Development Authority's (RAJUK), Detailed Area Plan (DAP) and other service agencies' master plans while DNCC will be responsible for developing the infrastructure.

Apart from the construction of four-lane roads, a ‘Utility Duct’ will also be constructed so that all the overhead electricity cables including cable TV and internet wires will go underground.

Through the project, construction and development of roads and sidewalks, walkways on both sides of 13 canals and bicycle lanes will also be done.

The ministry concerned and two

city corporations will have to take

the correct course of action

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives in association with the Dhaka South City Corporation and DNCC will have to work relentlessly to determine what they need to do to make the dream come true. And the country has already stepped into a new journey as it qualified to graduate into a developing nation from a Least Developed Country (LDC).

We think, with this new way of thinking and a wide range of innovations the authorities concerned will have to raise public awareness among the city-dwellers.

The ministry concerned and two city corporations will have to take the correct course of action.

We think it is high time to think about the real planning related issues for our capital city as there are many problems here due to the massive population. It has been noticed that many projects and initiatives were taken earlier to free the city especially from traffic gridlock, water logging, pollution and supply of pure drinking water. But this time we want to say the authorities concerned should make this initiative a reality.
