Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam said that BD Clean has been given a cheque of Tk 1.96 lakh as a reward for collecting around 40,000 various types of waste.
He made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at the cheque handover ceremony as a reward in exchange for collecting waste at Nagar Bhaban, Gulshan on Sunday.
The DNCC Mayor thanked the BD Clean members for collecting the wastes from different places with the aim of creating a healthy and beautiful environment through cleanliness.
He hoped that BD Clean members will keep themselves engaged in public welfare work in future also.
He said that like the BD Clean members, people from all walks of life should come forward in clean-up activities and make the social movement for well-being a success.
The DNCC mayor reiterated his commitment to pay Tk 50 for each unused commode and tire submitted to the ward councilor's office and Tk 5 for each packet of chips, coconut shells and paint cans.
Atiqul Islam called upon the city dwellers to strengthen the clean-up activities by implementing the slogan “Clean your house, for 10 minutes at 10 am every Saturday”
He said everyone should play an active role from their respective positions to build a healthy, beautiful and modern Dhaka.
