Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam has announced the modernisation of the command center to provide civic services to the common man in the shortest possible time and to reduce the suffering of the people.
The command center will have various sensors including central water spot spot tracking, garbage trucks, movement tracking of mosquito workers, all Dhaka app complaint monitoring, revenue monitoring, canals, footpaths, escalators of footover bridges, STS, smart street lights.
He made the announcement at a press conference following his recent visit to the United States on Saturday morning in Gulshan-2 Nagar Bhaban.
Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said, "We are visiting the United States at the invitation of MMC (Mayor Migration Council) and the World Bank. We demand the Climate Fund to highlight the effects of the hostile climate in Bangladesh. At the same time, they exchanged views by visiting various places, installations and institutions in New York and Washington to get a first-hand look at what our civic services will look like if the country becomes a developed country by 2041.
The DNCC Mayor said, “We have to plan to adapt to the changes that will take place in the city centered on the MRT-8 line from Mirpur-12 to Farmgate to Banglamotor under the Integrated Corridor Management. We have plans for how to benefit the common man economically.”
It may be mentioned that Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md Atiqul Islam left for the United States on 15-26 May 2022 at the invitation of Mayors Migration Council and World Bank. He participated in MMC Leadership Board meeting, Disaster Displacement, General Assembly meeting and other programs. During his visit, he visited various establishments in New York City, including traffic management, street parking, bus terminals, and wholesale market supply systems. He also exchanged views with various organizations in the metropolitan city of Washington DC on traffic management, urban planning, revenue collection, and procurement contract management. He visited the head office of the World Bank and instructed all concerned to expedite the overall progress of the corridor management project proposed by Dhaka North City Corporation. He requested the representatives of the World Bank to organize training on various topics aimed at enhancing the skills of DNCC officials.
Also present on the occasion were DNCC CEO Md Selim Reza, Councilors and senior DNCC officials.
