Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said, climate adaptation fund should be formed for the city with the cooperation of developed countries and donor organizations.
DNCC Mayor also said, 'Due to floods, drought, river erosion, salinity etc. in different regions of Bangladesh, a large number of affected people are coming to the capital Dhaka every day in search of a safe life. An average of 2000 people are coming to Dhaka every day. The population of the city is increasing. Moreover, Dhaka itself is highly vulnerable to climate change. Residents of Dhaka and incoming migrants must be protected. Invest in climate adaptation.'
Organized by the United Nations, the ongoing COP-27 conference in the tourist city of Sharm el-Sheikh, Thursday at noon local time in the climate action zone MARRAKECH PARTNERSHIP FOR GLOBAL CLIMATE ACTION 'HUMAN SETTLEMENTS' - ACCELERATING CLIMATE ACTION IN HUMAN SETTLEMENTS: WHAT IS AT STAKE? He said these things in the panel discussion.
In the discussion, the mayor said, 'at least 50 percent of the total climate fund should be given to vulnerable and affected cities like Dhaka, climate refugees should be moved from affected and vulnerable areas to safe places and given their status and to create jobs and increase skills for climate refugees. Assistance must be provided.'
Emphasizing the importance of providing employment for the refugees, the mayor said, 'We must create employment for the refugees who have moved to the city due to climate change. This requires the cooperation of developed countries and donor organizations. Priority should be given to providing employment to the most vulnerable. Special emphasis should be placed on creating green jobs. Both local and national administrations should prioritize inclusive development and employment. The Government of Bangladesh has announced the creation of over 4 million climate-resilient jobs by 2030.'

Canals and reservoirs are being restored. We have built playgrounds and parks. I am planting trees.
