'By watching the game together on the field, a cordial relationship will develop among themselves. Showing the game on the big screen created a festive atmosphere. All the games of the World Cup will be shown on the big screen (digital screen) for a month at all the DNCC venues.
On Tuesday (22 November 2022) afternoon, Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said these things while inaugurating the month-long display of Qatar Football World Cup 2022 on a big screen (digital screen) in the field adjacent to Paris Road in Mirpur Section 11.
The DNCC mayor also said, 'The joy of watching a team game is great. Keeping in mind everyone's happiness, we have arranged to show the game on big screens at different places. Many will have the opportunity to watch the game on the way back from office.'
Note that the game is being shown on big screens at nine locations in the DNCC area. The locations are: 1) Rabindra Sarani, Uttara 2) Manik Mia Avenue 3) Mujib Chatwar, Hatirjheel, Madhubagh, 4) Nagar Bhavan, Gulshan-2, 5) Bachila, Mohammadpur (adjacent to Lautla Canal) 6) Grounds adjacent to Paris Road, 7 ) Kachkura College Ground, 8) Shyamoli Park, and 9) Khilgao Taltala Market.
This number will be increased by selecting a few more places.
Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, 'I have started ward visits and exchange meetings in every ward to listen to people's facilities and problems. I personally go to the people to hear their problems directly. My goal is to build a beautiful city by fulfilling people's demands and solving problems. We are working to ensure civic benefits by involving the people.
Highlighting the importance of children's sports, the mayor said, 'Just as physical fitness is necessary for the future generation to grow properly, so is mental fitness. Sports are very important for students along with their studies. But the city does not have the necessary playground. Buildings are being built all around. It is not enough to build a building. Children should be given opportunities to play for their development.
DNCC Mayor also said, 'Little children should be worried. It is really sad when children go on hunger strike for playground. They cannot play due to lack of field. People are not getting a chance to walk. The number of diabetic patients is increasing day by day. It is not acceptable to plot in the field. Children watch the game today in a festive atmosphere at this Paris Road ground.
And children will play in this field on Paris Road. This place will remain as a field.'
After the auspicious opening of the live sports exhibition on the big screen, the DNCC Mayor sat on the field with the children and enjoyed the Argentina vs Saudi Arabia game and shared the joy with the children.
Dhaka-16 Constituency Member of Parliament Md. Ilyas Uddin Mollah was present as a special guest in the event. In the speech of the special guest, he said, 'A festive atmosphere has been created due to a large number of people watching the game together in the field on the big screen. Children should be happy. Playground should be arranged for them. This Paris Road field was allotted as plot. No plot can be allotted here. Plots will be arranged elsewhere for those who got plots. It will remain as a field for sports.'
The function was presided over by Ward No. 3 Councilor Kazi Zahirul Islam Manik and other senior officials and councilors of DNCC were also present.
