Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has terminated ten police personnel for failing drug tests. The DMP authorities also has suspended eighteen policemen for allegations of drug abuse.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relation) Walid Hossain confirmed it.
He said that some sixty-eight police members have failed in the test. These drug tests were carried out in last few months.
According to the DMP sources, forty three departmental cases were filed against the police personnel who had failed the drug tests. Departmental actions are under process in twenty-five more incidents.
Among the police members who failed the tests, fifteen are constables, seven sub-inspectors, a traffic sergeant, and five each Nayek and assistant sub-inspector, DMP document reveals.
Ten policemen of DMP were found accused in illegal drug trading, ten falsely implicated people in drug cases, five were addicted, and four showed lesser amount of drugs recovery after being bribed, the official memo reads.
