DMP’s anti-drug drive continues Over 330 people arrested in a month in Dhaka city

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in different operations in 24 hours till 6:00 am on Saturday (September 2) arrested 38 persons for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs.

Being informed, the DMP’s police and detective units conducted the anti-drug campaign in the city’s various areas, seizing drugs and arresting drug sellers and abusers, says a DMP statement.

They seized 12,003 pieces of Yaba tablets, 22.545kg of hemp, and 62gm of heroin from their possessions, according to the statement. 

According to the statement, 32 cases were filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.

The anti-drug drive has been continuing in Dhaka city for last days. As part of the anti-drug drive, the members of the DMP arrested a total of 334 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs from August 4 to September 1. 

The DMP on Friday said that it arrested a total of 55 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on Friday.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized a total of 34,016 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 121 grams and 65 puria (small packet) of heroin, 14.500 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja) and 112 bottles of phensidyle syrup from their possessions.

Police filed 36 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.

BSS adds: On August 30, the DMP said that as many as 47 people were arrested in Dhaka on charges of selling and consuming drugs in 24 hours till 6:00 am on that day.

During the campaigns, police seized 1,271 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 323 grams and 20 purias (small packets) of heroin, 86.20 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja), eight bottles of phensedyl syrup and 800 millilitre of foreign-made liquor from their possession.

Besides, 29 separate cases were filed against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.

On August 27, the DMP arrested 54 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during separate drives in 24 hours till 6:00 am on that day.

During the campaigns, police seized 10,200 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 12 grams of heroin, 95.900 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja), 120 bottles of phensedyl syrup and 10 litres of locally-made liquor from their possession.

The DMP filed 39 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.

On August 25, the DMP said at least 49 people were arrested in Dhaka on charges of selling and consuming drugs.

During the anti-drug raids, police seized 2,768 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 30 grams of heroin, 4.900 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja), seven bottles of phensidyle syrup and 800 injections (drugs) from their possession.

Police filed 32 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.

On August 18, the DMP said its members arrested 61 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on that day.

During the raids, police seized 3,056 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 392 grams of heroin, 50.950 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja), 90 bottles of phensidyl syrup and 20 litres of locally made liquor from their possessions.

Besides, 40 separate cases were against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.

On August 4, the DMP said it arrested a total of 30 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in 24 hours till 6:00 am on that day.

During the raids, police seized 1,560 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 20 grams and 3000 puria (small packet) of heroin, 4.890 kilogrammes of cannabis (ganja) and 30 bottles of phensidyle syrup from their possessions.

Police filed 26 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
