DMP files 4,589 cases over traffic violations

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total 4,589 cases over traffic violations in the capital, reports BSS. “Police realized Taka 20, 80,900 as fine from the traffic offenders. Police also sent 13 vehicles to dumping and 437 more to wrecking,” a DMP release said on Monday.

The DMP sources further said cases were filed against 964 vehicles for going into wrong way, 75 vehicles for using hydraulic horns, one for using hooters and beacon light and nine vehicles were booked for using black glasses on windows. “Cases were also filed against 1,588 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 66 more were seized. Nine drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving,” the release added.
