A total of 282 jute and diversified jute products on Sunday have been declared versatile goods as their demand is growing substantially across the world.
In a press release, the Ministry of Textiles and Jute has released a list of versatile jute products.
It is to be noted that, the development and expansion of the jute sector is making an important contribution to the national economy as a result of the formulation and implementation of various action plans of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
As a result of smooth implementation of all these action plans of the present government, jute sector is in the second place in the export trade of Bangladesh.
The labor intensive jute sector has been playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the country. The Ministry of Textiles and Jute has taken various initiatives for the development of the jute sector.
In order to accelerate the revival and modernization of the jute industry, the Compulsory Use of Mandatory Jute Packaging Act 2010, Jute Act 2017 andNational Jute Policy-2018 have been formulated by the ministry.
Through the implementation of all these laws and policies, the demand for jute and jute products in the local and international markets has increased tremendously, said the release.
Various steps have been taken to diversify and use jute products through the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC). About 600 entrepreneurs of diversified jute products are producing various types of lucrativejute products, most of which are being exported abroad. Various fairs are regularly being organisedhome and abroad to promote the versatile jute products of the country.
