DIU students come under insurance coverage

No interruption in studies at parents loss

Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Pragati Life Insurance has taken a gigantic initiative of introducing a remarkable policy titled ‘Guardian’s Insurance Policy’, for the first time in Bangladesh for the students who have unfortunately lost their guardians.

According to the policy, sudden death of a guardian wouldn’t interrupt academic life of a student in Daffodil International University. If any guardian dies just after admitting her son or daughter in Daffodil International University, the university authority would bear his or her rest of the cost to continue academic life.

Daffodil International University signed an agreement on Guardian’s Insurance Policy with Pragati Life Insurance, which is the first ever of its kind in Bangladesh.

In the first phase of this policy, the first cheque handover ceremony of Guardian’s Insurance Policy was held at 71 Milonayotion of the university in Dhaka on Monday.

Md. Jalalul Azim, managing director & CEO of Pragati Life Insurance was present in the ceremony as the chief guest while Dr. Md.

Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University was present as the guest of honor.

Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, vice chancellor, DIU presided over the programme. In the programme, three students were handed over cheques of the insurance amount as per policy. The cheque recipients are Khadiza Khalid Khushbu and Ilma Akther of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Borhan Uddin of EEE Department.

The function was also attended by Professor Dr. S. M Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, pro vice - chancellor, Hamidulk Haque Khan, treasurer, Professor Dr. Engineer A K M Fazlul Hoque, registrar and other high officials of DIU and Pragati Life Insurance.

While addressing as the chief guest, Md. Jalalul Azim said: “None of us has any idea that when uncertainty comes in our life. Insurance can help us face this uncertainty. That’s why Daffodil International University had introduced guardian’s insurance policy with Pragati Life Insurance.”

Md. Jalalul Azim also said that some negative approaches about insurance are prevailed in our society.

We have to break this negativity. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that death is a reality of our life. When a student losses parent or guardian, he or she falls in a critical situation. Daffodil International University has taken the initiative to stand beside them during that position and Guardian’s Insurance Policy will help them to continue their education life.
