District administration imposes strict lockdown

Published : 01 Jul 2021 08:42 PM

Kishoreganj district administration is in a tough position to reduce the rate of Covid-19 infection in the district. They are wary of implementing the 7-day strict lockdown announced by the government.

Police have taken a firm stand throughout the district. Police personnel are working at every corner of the road from the beginning of the lockdown. It was seen that the roads and market places have been empty since the morning of Thursday. Besides the police, there are Bangladesh Army, BGB and RAB in the field. No one is leaving the house without urgent work. There is no public transport on the road. Some rickshaws and motorcycles are moving but that are also in limited numbers.

Many have been seen walking to the office with their identity cards. Shops, vehicles, offices and courts are closed. Although the food hotels were supposed to be open maintaining some conditions, not much was noticed since morning.

District administration said that the armed forces have been deployed in Kishoreganj Sadar, Katiadi and Bhairab due to high infection rate. A total of 56 police check posts have been set up in the district. BGB has been deployed in Karimganj, Tarail. A coordination cell has been formed and a total of 108 units including 30 executive magistrates are working at the field level. 142 metric tons of GR rice and about Taka 57 lakh have been allocated for food aid.

Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam said the restrictions imposed in Kishoreganj district are being implemented to reduce the rise in corona infection. Members of the law enforcement and executive magistrates have been active since morning.

Police, army, BGB, RAB and Ansar have been deployed in the entire district. We will all collectively implement this strict lockdown.
