Distressed women in Jibannagar get sewing machines

Free sewing machines have been distributed among 44 women in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district with the aim of creating employment for rural poor women, marking the birth centenary of Father of The Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Chuadanga-2 MP Haji Mohammad on Thursday distributed the sewing machines among the distressed women in the area. He was present at the programme as the chief guest. Ali Munsur Babu, chairman of Damurhuda Upazila Parishad, Haji Mohammad, chairman of Jibannagar Upazila Parishad, on behalf of Ali Azgar Togar. Hafizur Rahman, Jibannagar Upazila Executive Officer Ariful Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) said. Mohiuddin, Jibannagar Municipal Mayor. Rafiqul Islam, President of Jibannagar Upazila Awami League Golam Mortuzaand other were also present at the programme.

During the programme, the speakers said that the present government has taken various steps on priority basis to support the backward women for the implementation of the vision of 2041. As a part of this, sewing machines were distributed among 44 women of Jibannagar Upazila from the optional fund of the local MP. All these trained women will be able to help their families to bring prosperity.

Tania Khatun of Uthli village in Jibannagar upazila, the recipient of a sewing machine, said, "My father died a long time ago. I live with my widowed mother. Despite my sewing machine skills, I can't take orders for sewing due to lack of a sewing machine. I feel relieved to have this sewing machine in my hand today. From now on, I will be able to bring back my family's financial well-being by doing sewing.”
