A total of 6,000 distressed people of Pabna's Chatmohar municipality are getting rice and cash assistance ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. Chatmohar Municipality Mayor Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Sakho distributed cash from the Prime Minister's Special Fund in Chatmohar Municipality, Pabna on Monday morning.
VGF rice was distributed among 200 destitute and extremely poor families during the programme maintaining social distance and hygiene regulations. People receiving the rice said that such food assistance definitely helps them in this dire situation.
Municipal Mayor Sakhawat Hossain Sakho said 150 people were given 20 kg of rice in Chatmohar municipality last Sunday. A few days ago, 200 people were given 400 Tk in cash. Soon another 6,500 people will be given 10 kg of rice. If there is someone who did not get rice last Eid, that person will be assisted by the municipal authorities. A total of about 6,000 people are getting rice or cash assistance ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Municipal panel mayor Ekhlashur Rahman, upazila assistant instructor Kalyan Kumar Sarkar, municipal sanitary inspector Abul Kalam Azad Dulal, councilors of different wards and municipal employees were present during the distribution programme.
