Distressed families get free tube wells

Tube wells were distributed free of cost among more than 50 extremely poor families in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga on Saturday to ensure safe drinking water for the needy people.

The tube wells were officially distributed at Uthli Secondary School premises of Jibannagar Upazila with the funding of Dost Aid Bangladesh Society and the implementation of Shikar Samaj Kalyan Sangstha. 

Chairman of Jibannagar Upazila Parishad Hafizur Rahman was the chief guest at the function and distributed the tubewells among the needy families while, Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ariful Islam presided over the tube well distribution programme. 

Dost Aid Society executive member journalist Sabbir Sami Muhith, Upazila Assistant Commissioner Md Mohiuddin, Jibannagar Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mizanur Rahman, Uthli Union Parishad Chairman Abul Kamam Azad, Uthli Secondary School Board President Abdul Mannan Pintu, Uthli Union Awami League General Secretary Mubarak Sohel Ahmed, journalist Mithun Mahmud and others were present at the programme.

Upazila Parishad Chairman Hafizur Rahman said, “The development work that Dost Aid Chuadanga has been conducting for a long time, especially in this upazila, is really commendable.”

Speaking on the occasion, UNO Ariful Islam said, “I am overwhelmed to see the activities of Dost Aid during my short tenure in this Upazila. I hope that their activities will spread further.

Journalist Sabbir Sami Muhith, who was the chief guest at the event, said, “We work for the welfare of the helpless poor and indigent people of the society. We are continuing this activity in different districts of the country. We are working to build a hunger and poverty free society.”

It may be mentioned that since 2016, the organization has been conducting 22 developmental activities including education, health, food, shelter and employment free of cost in 26 districts of the country including Jamalpur and Chuadanga.
