One disinfectant tunnel was inaugurated at the Benapole port export terminal for Bangladeshi truck drivers, helpers, and two others were inaugurated at Benapole Customs House for disinfecting other people from coronavirus on Sunday (July 19) afternoon.

Commissioner of Benapole Customs House Md. Azizur Rahman inaugurated these tunnels as chief guest.

Additional Commissioner of Benapole Customs House Md. Neyamul Islam, Joint Commissioner of Benapole Customs House Mohammad Shahidul Islam and President of Customs Clearing and Forwarding agents association Md Mofizur Rahman Sajan were also present.

Benapole Customs House Commissioner Md. Azizur Rahman said the thermal scanner for detecting fever/temperature of the body would benefit the two stations.  Thermal scanners can be used to detect whether the drivers who will travel between India and Bangladesh have any fever which leads to the suspicion of corona infection.

In addition C&F employees who bring papers to the customs House can also be brought under the corona test.

Benapole Customs House sources say that about one thousand truck drivers and helpers travel through Benapole land port every day. Disinfectant tunnels and thermal scanners have been installed in both India and Bangladesh ports to check their health condition.
