A discussion meeting titled "Stop the Use of Fossil Fuels, Ensure the Use of Renewable Energy" with the slogan and "Measures for the Development of the Tourism Industry in Cox's Bazar" was held along with the introductory meeting of the district committee of the Green Movement.
The event took place on Saturday, October 4, at a local in Cox's Bazar town. The meeting was chaired by Professor Nurul Amin Sikder Bhutto and moderated by Md. Imran Khan. The chief discussant was Dr. Mohammad Sanaullah, Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Green Movement. Special guest was Islamic thinker Mufti Abdullah Shaheen. At the end of the meeting, the newly formed district committee of the Green Movement in Cox's Bazar was announced.
The chief guest was Bappi Sardar, founder and chairman of the Green Movement. Other participants in the discussion included Haji Mohammad Yunus, Abdullah Shaheen, Noyon Selina, and others.
In his speech, Bappi Sardar, founder chairman of the Green Movement, said, "Today I want to give you two slogans. One is 'Remove the Rohingyas, Save Cox's Bazar.' The other slogan is, 'Remove America, Save Saint Martin.'"
He further stated that planned hotels and motels need to be developed in Cox's Bazar. Measures must be taken regarding unplanned hotels and motels. The drainage system of Cox's Bazar municipality must be improved. Waste management should be modernized. Street vendors occupying roads and sidewalks indiscriminately should be evicted and designated areas for them should be selected. Due to the Rohingyas, forests in Cox's Bazar have been destroyed. The forest areas of Cox's Bazar must be protected. The coral reefs must be preserved. Hill cutting and sand extraction from rivers must be stopped. Greenery should be planned in Cox's Bazar. Work on environmental improvement must be carried out not disconnected from the public but by involving the community, he added.
Finally, identity cards were distributed to the members of the district committee of the Green Movement, and awards were given to environmental warriors who have contributed to society.
