With the slogan “Agriculture is Prosperity”, a discussion meeting was held in Thakurgaon to ensure the fair and efficient distribution of fertiliser to farmers ahead of the 2025–26 Rabi season.
The meeting took place on Monday afternoon at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium, organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) with support from the District Administration.
Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana attended the meeting as the chief guest. Also present were Md. Majedul Islam, Deputy Director of the DAE (Thakurgaon), BFAs district president Modasser Hossain, Upazila-level Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers, and authorised fertiliser dealers.
Speakers at the event stressed the need for transparency and accountability in fertiliser management during the Rabi season. Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana urged field-level agriculture officers to remain proactive so that no farmer suffers from a fertiliser shortage.
She stated, “Farmers are the lifeblood of our country. They hold the key to food security and a prosperous Bangladesh. It is therefore our prime responsibility to ensure they receive the necessary agricultural inputs on time.”
The meeting also addressed issues such as fertiliser supply chains, market monitoring, and maintaining fair pricing. Instructions were given to relevant officials to ensure that subsidised fertilisers provided by the government are delivered to farmers promptly and in the correct quantity.
Agricultural officers from various upazilas shared challenges faced in the field and proposed solutions to improve fertiliser distribution systems. The session concluded with a renewed commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening coordination among stakeholders.
