Discover Baliati Zamindar Bari with a day tour

The 200 years old historic Baliati Zaminderbari in Manikganj is situated about 35 miles northwest of Dhaka and 5 miles east of district headquarters, on 5.88 acres of land at Baliati village under Saturia upazila.

There is a small Dighi in front of the Jamindar bari which adds to the beauty and attraction of the area.

The Baliati Zaminderbari originally consisted of five similar but separate blocks. The south façade of grand palace presents an attractive frontage of about 400 feet of the extant four blocks of the palace, the two central blocks are two-storied and the other two terminal ones are three-storied. The lofty encircling walls of the imposing Zaminderbari complex are pierced by three superb gateways, identical in their architectural features.

The historic building has 200 rooms designed and built following Mughal architectural style. The enchanting palace bears witness to past events lost over the period of time.

Govinda Ram Shaha founded the place. He was a prominent salt merchant of Bengal in the middle of the 18th century. He had four sons Dadhi Ram, Ananda Ram, Pandit Ram, Gopal Ram. They built all the buildings which are currently present in the Baliati Jamindar Bari as some buildings are an extended version of the first Jamindar Bari.

The building complex consists of seven separate blocks surrounded by a large enclosure with three identical gateways with a design of a lion which will make the tourists feel how grand the Baliatis were.

The central block of the upper story has a beautiful hall which is now a museum. Tourists will be able to see the luxurious interior of the Jamindar Bari, the rich variety of design which consists of the interior of the Baliati Jamindar Bari.

It is incredible to witness such a place which is surrounded by nature creating a peaceful environment, and at the same time, a place is a historical place with lots of things for tourists to see. Amongst the local people of Manikganj, this place is widely visited.

How to visit Manikganj

There are various scheduled buses such as Village Line, Subho Jatra, Padma Line leave for Manikganj from Gabtoli every day. Tourists can also hire a private car, microbuses through which they can visit Manikganj. Tourists can stay at Manikganj or visit Baliati and return to Dhaka within a day.
