Discount offers in plenty in trade fair

The Dhaka International Trade Fair has been offering big discount jackpot to draw customers’ attention as well as boost their sales. The month-long fair being held at Agargaon, has recently picked up a pace with the presence of a huge number of visitors to get big discount offers. The visitors are drawn to multiple attractive discounts, special offers, introductory prices, gifts and lotteries and what not.

The discounts range from about 5 to 100 percent on different products at almost all stalls and pavilions. There are lottery arrangements too. Many companies are making home-delivery in Dhaka city areas after sale. Apart from the free delivery system, there are also several facilities. People of all ages, especially teenagers, were found thronging the fair amid much enthusiasm and showing good responses in buying different products, including cosmetics, clothes, jewellery and so on.

The fair premises witnessed a rush of female customers, in particular, those who preferred to buy fashion items and home appliances. Most of the clothing and cosmetic pavilions were jam-packed while the opposite scenario was found in furniture, food and beverage, and electronics pavilions with a fewere buyers. Hatil Furniture is offering 5 to 10 percent discount at the fair with 12-month EMI facility.

On the other hand, Akhtar, Parttex and other furniture companies also offered discount up to 20 percent. Plastic products of different companies including RFL and Akij offer up to 30 percent cash discount. Electronic appliance display centres like the Sharp Pavilion introduced some new products. Besides, they have also taken initiatives to increase sales of their old products offering big discount.

On the other hand, other electronic bands have many Raffles draws and prizes.  Nur E Alam Sheikh, a salesman of Jhumka jewellery, said they were happy over sales of their jewellery of different designs as huge customers started crowding their shop since Friday. Ashok Kumar, Manager of Partex Furniture said they have brought a number of new items to the trade fair, but are yet to get the desired responses. 

“We are offering big discount on the occasion of the trade fair,” he added.  Adiva, who came from Mirpur area, said “We have got the change of buying various items from the fair with big discount.” “We wait for a year to get this discount to buy different essential items at trade fair,” she added. However, the fair will remain open daily from January 1 to January 31 from 10 am to 10 pm. Tickets for the fair will also be available online this time.  

They said this time the ticket for the fair has been fixed at 40 Taka for adult and Tk 20 for children. A total of 21 foreign organisations including India, Pakistan, China, South Korea, Iran, Thailand, the United States, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Vietnam, the Maldives, Japan, Italy, Denmark Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and Hong Kong applied for  participating in the fair this year, they added.

The major items that are put on parade at the fair venue this time include machinery, carpets, cosmetics and beauty products, electronic, jute, leather and sports goods, sanitary ware, toys, ceramics, fabrics, processed foods, furniture and handicrafts.

Apart from the business stalls, amusement park for children, mother and child center, separate booths and security service rooms for male and female, fire service station, blood donation center, complaint center of the Consumer Rights Protection, power grid sub-station, generation station and space for car parking has been arranged inside the fair compound.
