Disaster Response Exercise held in the capital

A joint exercise on disaster management after earthquake titled Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) Bangladesh 2019 held at L block, adjacent to 300 feet road of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Wednesday. 

With the continued success of past exercises, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), Armed Forces Division (AFD) and United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) are jointly organising the event for the 15th time, which will continue till October 31. 

The theme of DREE is resilience through preparedness.  DREE is the largest earthquake disaster related exercise in the Asia Pacific region. 

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam observed the exercise as the chief guest, while Commander AKM Rezaul Majid, commander of 14 Independent Engineer Brigade acts as chief coordinator. 

Apart of MoDMR, AFD and USARPAC, 680 participants from 55 organizations have participated in the exercise.  This year for the first time, DREE includes specialized cell and foreign relief cells to rescue the physically handicapped during any disaster.
