Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education has directed educational institutions to take necessary and precautionary measures to reopen and conduct educational activities, at secondary and higher secondary level from June 13, depending on the situation of Covid-19 pandemic.
The directive was issued on Thursday (May 27) signed by Nazrul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
It was further mentioned in the directive that the educational institutions will be closed until June 12 and the students will stay in their respective homes for the safety of all. In the meantime, online education will continue and the parents will ensure that their children stay at home.
Earlier, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (May 26) Education Minister Dipu Moni said that the leave of the educational institution has been extended util June 12. All secondary and higher secondary schools and colleges will be reopened from June 13. Moreover, this year's SSC and HSC candidates will attend classes six days a week on a priority basis.
Meanwhile, regarding the reopening of the university, the education minister said that the public universities would be reopened after vaccinating the students in the dormitory halls. However, the university authorities will continue the online classes and hold examinations.
Due to the outbreak of the global epidemic coronavirus in the country, all types of educational institutions are kept closed from March 17, last year. Months ago, the education minister, at a press conference on February 28 announced to reopen schools and colleges from March 30 and universities from May 24.
However, considering the second wave of the pandemic, it was decided to keep the educational institutions locked until June 12.
