Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur Shakil Ahmed said that adverse effects of climate change is changing the world. To get rid of this, each of us needs to plant at least two trees every year.
He said this while speaking at a sapling distribution programme organised by Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela (Dinajpur District Branch) marking World Environment Day held at Carey Memorial High School premises on Monday.
DC Shakil Ahmed said that the presence of trees is essential for sustaining the balance of the environment and they act as dependable allies in times of adversity.
Carey Memorial High School Headmaster James and Thunder presided over the function while General Secretary of Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela Central Committee and District Awami League Office Secretary Moniruzzaman Jewel also speak on the occasion.
Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Faisal Raihan as a special guest, former principal and district Awami League’s liberation war affairs secretary Saifuddin Akhtar as a guest of honour, among others also spoke on the occasion.
