Legendary singer Dilruba Khan has filed a general diary (GD) against Shakib Khan in the copyright issue. The GD was filed at the Gulshan Police Station on Monday on behalf of three people, including lyricist Kaiser Ahmed and composer Ashraf Udas.
In the general diary (GD), Dilruba Khan accused Shakib Khan of violating copyright law and digital security law, saying that Shakib Khan used the popular song ‘Pagol Mon’ in the film ‘Password’ without their permission under the banner of his production company SK Films. He later released it on his YouTube channel and put the song in an advertisement.
In this context, Dilruba Khan told Bangladesh Post, “The song has been used in the film without our permission. Since then, it has also been given to the mobile phone company Robi. So the lyricist, composer and I were forced to make this complaint together. Our lawyer will fight the matter legally.”
Dilruba Khan’s lawyer Barrister Olora Afrin said, “Actor Shakib Khan used two lines of the song without permission in his ‘Password’ film, which was copyrighted. He has infringed the copyright law by using the song in the film without permission.”
Meanwhile, Shakib Khan claims that the song was used in the movie ‘Password’ with the permission of Dilruba Khan.
Director Malek Afsari said, “Shakib Khan himself called Dilruba Khan during the shooting of the film. The vocalist said generously that day, sister’s song will be used by brother, what is the need for permission? Co-producer Md. Iqbal, I, Shakib and many others were there that day.”
He also said, “Dilruba Khan sold the song to Nader Khan, the producer of ‘Pagol Mon’, and director Tozammel Haque Bakul. The song is used as background music in the film. Even after getting permission from Nader Khan, I did not stop, I also took permission from Dilruba Khan. Shakib himself called her to pay his respects.”
Last Sunday, musician Dilruba Khan filed a complaint against Shakib Khan under the Digital Security Act for using music without permission. Barrister Olora Afrin filed the complaint on behalf of singer, lyricist Kaiser Ahmed and composer Ashraf Udas seeking compensation of Tk 10 crore.
Shakib Khan is the hero and producer of the movie ‘Password’ directed by Malek Afsari. Shabnam Bubli was opposite Shakib in it. Ashok Singh has re-sung the song used in the film titled ‘Pagol Mon’.
