Dilip Kumar under self-quarantine

Amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, legendary actor Dilip Kumar on late hours of Monday took to Twitter to inform his fans that he is under self-quarantine and safe. The 97-year-old actor who recently got discharged from the hospital following backaches revealed how he is dealing with the situation.

“I am under complete isolation and quarantine due to the #CoronavirusOutbreak. Saira has left nothing to chance, ensuring I do not catch any infection,” read Kumar’s first tweet about coronavirus. 97-year-old Dilip Kumar has been ill for long. So physically he is extremely weak. And such a patient is more likely to be infected with coronavirus. So Dilip Kumar has been kept in isolation to protect him from the virus.

He has been suffering from illness due to old age for a long time. This decision to keep him quarantined was taken by his wife Saira Banu. He was born in 11 December 1922 as Muhammad Yusuf Khan. After gaining popularity in the cinema world he adopted the name Dilip Kumar. He won the best actor award in 1954 Film Fare Award. In 2015 the Indian government awarded him with the Padma Vibhushan award.
