Digitisation changes govt service-providing system: Palak

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that the initiative for a digital Bangladesh has totally changed the scenario of providing government services to people.

Palak made the remarks at a programme titled ‘Journalist Workshop on Digital Bangladesh’ organised by state owned news media Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and A2I on Tuesday. With the help of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ the government has established ‘Digital Government System’ through which people nowadays are getting almost all government services sitting at their houses, he added.

The colonial mentality of the people has changed due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s digital government system, he further said.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced the digital government system in Bangladesh with a whole new idea shunning all old concepts, that colonial mentality of hundreds of years”.   

“The government's e-document management has reduced financial costs over time. At the same time this e-document management has set an example of success in the world,” he added.

In his speech, the state minister called upon the local journalists to take initiative in developing digital centres in different parts of the country as well as to create IT resource persons.

The government has provided 54 crore services through its e-governance service delivery centres setup across the country. This has ensured hassle free services at the door steps of people as well as save time and money.

According to ICT officials, in the last four years the government has provided 54 crore services through e-governance service delivery centers set up by the government across the country. This is equivalent to about Tk 70,000 crore.

Journalists and representatives from different organizations and districts and a2i’s Adnan Faisal and Mamunur Rashid were present at the function.
