Digital Trade Week starts today

To promote digital trade in Bangladesh and initiate digitization of trade in readymade garments sector “Digital Trade Week” is going to start for the first time in the country starts today. 

Merchant Bay Ltdfocusing on expanding the country’s export sector organizing the digital trade. Merchant Bay will facilitate the opportunity to more than one thousand suppliers from different parts of Bangladesh to meet with buyers from 50+ countries around the world.  Suppliers will be able to promote their products and factory facilities to the buyers around the year. Buyers can get a clear idea about the apparel industry in Bangladesh and will be able to request suppliers for quotations. The core objective of this Digital Trade Week is to present a new dimension of trade through digitalization. Digital Trade Weeks main attention are the sessions on various aspects of the industry. In these sessions, there will be discussion meetings on various important topics related to the current digital trade, leadership and industry. 

Expert teams from home and abroad will take part in the sessions as panelists.

On the opening day of Trade Week on October 15,  the session titled "Digital Trade in Global Perspective" will be held and attended by  Mena Hassan, Trade Policy Analyst, World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. RubanaHuq, President, BGMEA, Yuji Ando, Country Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), MasrurReaz, Chairman of Policy Exchange of Bangladesh, and Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan, Managing Director of New Vision Solutions Limited as panelists. In this session, the panelists will discuss various aspects and opportunities of digital trade from a global perspective. The entire session will be conducted by Abrar Hossain Sayem, Managing Director of Merchant Bay Ltd.

Three sessions of the Leadership Conclave will be held on October 17 organized by JCI Bangladesh. The sessions will be attended by Andrew Baisley, Managing Director of Tech in Asia, AnothaiWattayakorn, Vice President of Dell EMC (Asia Emerging Markets), Arthur Carmazzi, one of the best leadership guru of the world and author, Adnan Imtiaz Halim, CEO of Sheba Platform Limited, Maliha M Qadir, Founder and Managing Director of Shohoz, Syed NasimManzur, Managing Director of Apex Footwear Ltd., Shams Mahmud, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Tina F. Jabeen, CEO and Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh, Ministry of ICT and many others from home and abroad.

On October 19, a seminar will be held with the young leaders of the garment industry in Bangladesh. Rafi Mahmud, Director, Mahmood Group, Al-Shahriar Ahmed, Managing Director, Adzi Trims Ltd., Zarin Rashid, Head of R&D / Director, TRZ Garments Industry Ltd. and many others will speak.
