Against the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, the government is providing assistance to a private firm to introduce an artificial intelligent (AI) based digital system to maintain social distance strictly in the banks and other customer related points intelligently, reports BSS.
In this regard, the LICT Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) engaged the eGovernment Leadership Centre (eGL) of Institute of Systems Science (ISS) of National University of Singapore (NUS) as a knowledge partner to provide help to Business Automation Limited for developing a quality AI -based `Queue Pro’ app which will detect customer’s face mask and social distancing in a gathering and predict waiting time for appointment and service, said a press release today.
Under the system, if any customer without wearing mask stands in front of a `Queue Pro’ (queue-pro.com) installed ticketing kiosk system, he or she will not deliver any ticket for service.
‘Queue Pro’ will also alert floor in-charge if it finds any customer is not maintaining social distance in a service queue.
Regarding the digital system, Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam said the government has been backing the private sector to come up with innovative approach to address various issues including maintaining social distance in the various organizations including banks and industries to face the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said ICT Division involving private sector has already developed apps like corona tracer, corona tracker, food for nation for food supply, call for nation during ongoing covid-19 pandemic situation.
“Queue Pro” solution will be the latest one which would also help reduce coronavirus in the country, he added.
BCC Executive Director Parthapratim Deb said the main goal of the government is to flourish the IT-ITES industry in the country by involving private sector to develop AI based digital System.
He said the eGL of NUS has been engaged to use their expertise and faculties for providing training and advice to private firms to develop 10 prototypes including the Que-Pro app from beginning to piloting phase to produce quality products.
LICT Project Director Md Rezaul Karim said “Queue Pro” developed by private sector is one of the innovations that would ensure customers to wear face mask.
The system will also create awareness among the citizens as social distance violators, he said, adding AI-based Que-pro solution will be introduced soon in the banks and other organizations after its successful piloting.
Policy Adviser of LICT Project Sami Ahmed said the AI-based “Queue Pro” developed by a country’s private organization is a glaring example of using frontier technologies which are expected to be the main tools for expediting the fourth industrial revolution.
According to Business Automation, “Queue Pro” is a software that manages the queue in any customer interaction point intelligently and the process starts with a customer who just pops in the customer care center.
The customer will have to select the service he or she is looking for by pressing the options at the touch screen monitor and once the service type is selected, the system will calculate the number of persons waiting in the queue, it said and added that during expected service time the system will generate a token and finally, system will display and announce with voice prompt the token number of the next customer who is supposed to be served.
