Tajul Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) said, “The government is working to ensure all facilities of city for the village people. If we can do it, then they have no need to live in the city.” He said while attending the 9th anniversary programme of digital center at ICT tower of Agargaon in the capital on Monday. Access to Information (A2I) arranged the program.

Tajul Islam said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s vision is to transform the villages of the country into cities. This means taking all the facilities of the city to the doorsteps of the rural people. It is not possible to give place to one million people in Dhaka or Chattogram. Therefore, they can be connected with the whole world, either in Dhaka or in the rural area with a laptop or computer. And, this is what the digital centers are doing. People can access urban facilities from the village through these digital centers. That is why the ICT division is headed by the Prime Minister and we are working closely together.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) said, there are now around 6,000 digital centers in the country. Through these centers, we are providing various services to the marginalized people on digital platforms. We provide more than 4 services through Union Parishads, Municipality and City Corporation Digital Center.

But, this is not the end here. The style of service is changing at every moment. We have to adopt new strategies to deliver these services to the people. A2i is doing that work. We need to get at least 2,000 more government services on digital platforms. At least one thousands of these services should be accessed through the Digital Service Delivery Center.
