A Dhaka court on Sunday sent Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of prisons Md Bazlur Rashid to jail in a graft case, reports BSS. Acting Judge Al Mamun Bhuiyan of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order as investigation officer and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md Nasir Uddin produced the accused before the courtand pleaded to keep him behind bars until the disposal of the case.
Rashid’s counsel however, pleaded for his bail. After hearing both the sides, the court sent him to jail. The DIG was shown arrested today this afternoon from ACC headquarters in capital’s Segunbagicha in connection with a case lodged for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 3.08 crore.
Earlier in the morning DIG Prisons Md Bazlur Rashid and his wife Razzakun Nahar appeared before the anti-graft body to face grilling about their illegal wealth. In the interrogation, the DIG couldn’t give logical answer about his illegal wealth.
