Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Administrator Dr Shahadat Hossain has assured that dialysis services at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) will continue uninterrupted, with the city corporation ready to provide financial assistance if necessary.
He made the assurance on Thursday while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of ‘The Study Lounge’ and ‘The Prayer Hall’ for resident female students at Kanta Girls’ Hostel of Chattogram Medical College. The facilities were built with support from Dr Shahadat and college alumni. Professor Dr Jasim Uddin, principal of the college, chaired the programme.
Dr Shahadat said the hospital authorities, college administration and other stakeholders were working together to ensure uninterrupted dialysis services. If central support could not be secured, CCC would consider providing financial assistance.
He added that CMCH authorities planned to introduce dialysis services under their own management within the next six months, around June–July 2027.
The CCC administrator, who earned his MBBS degree from the college, also stressed the need for affordable healthcare, cleanliness and environmental improvement. He said 10 sanitation workers had been deployed to strengthen cleaning activities in the hospital's external areas, while initiatives were underway to expand greenery.
Brigadier General Taslim Uddin, director of CMCH, and Professor Dr Anisul Hossain, vice-principal of the college, attended the programme as special guests, along with teachers, physicians and alumni. #EK
