Dhaka villages turning into town

Dohar and Nawabganj Upazilas, situated beside the capital Dhaka, are turning to towns with the touch of the ‘magical touchstone’ of development of the present government. 

In the recent past, darkness shrouded in both the upazilas soon after the evening. But now all houses of the upazilas have been connected with electricity. 

According to an account of Dhaka Palli Biddyuth Samity-2, the total number of electricity consumers in 504 villages of Dohar and Nawabganj is 185,000, informed Mominul Islam, AGM of PBS.

Android Phone sets are now used by most of the people of the upazilas which enable them to talk with the people around the world through video calls and consulting business solutions. Cybercafes have been set up in many villages where students of various schools and colleges are getting training on computer, attending classes online, using e-mails, applying for jobs, purchasing air tickets and filling up Visa forms. Earlier, they need to visit towns to do these jobs. 

Through community clinics, the health care facilities of the government are being rendered to each village free of cost. CHCP Soma Bepary of Jontrail Union of Nawabganj informed, there are 40 community clinics in the upazila where 40 to 50 patients are being treated free of cost in each clinic daily. 

A number of bridges over the Ichhamoti and Kaliganga rivers in Nawabganj have made a revolutionary change in communication with Dhaka. Not only the people of Dohar and Nawabganj, people of Manikganj and Munshiganj are also being able to reach Dhaka in a short time by using the bridges. 

Farmers of the upazilas are being able to carry their agricultural products to Dhaka and other cities within a short time. 10 set of a double-decker is also plying from Bandura Bus stand of Nawabganj to Fulbaria of Dhaka.

With the initiative of MP Salman F Rahman, a Fire Service Station has been set up at Dohar. 

Three educational institutions-Dohar Nwabganj College, Joypara Pilot High School and Nawabganj Pilot High School have been nationalised by the present government. 

Computer Laboratories have been set up in 15-educational institutions, in numerous kutcha and pucca roads have been repaired, Flood Shelter has been constructed and a large number of rootless people have got their houses in 23 unions. 

Mijanur Rahman Kismat, Convener of Nawabganj Upazila AL informed, incumbent MP Salmar F Rahman is working relentlessly to turn Dohar and Nawabganj Upazilas into Model Upazilas. The work is underway to set up an Economic Zone at Doulatpur of Nawabganj, he mentioned.
