The relation between Bangladesh and Japan has been elevated to ‘Strategic Partnership’ and it has enhanced opportunities for cooperation with Japan in many areas including trade, investment and recruitment of human resources from Bangladesh, said speakers at a seminar in Tokyo on Friday.
Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo organized the Seminar on ‘Trade, Investment and Human Resources’ on 07 June at the Bangabandhu auditorium of the Embassy.
Nearly 80 participants from Japanese companies and manpower recruiting organizations were present at the event.
Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed in his welcome speech, urged Japanese businessmen and investors to invest in various sectors such as garment industry, leather, jute, light engineering, information technology, as well as in Economic Zones, Hi-Tech Parks and Export Processing Zones in Bangladesh. The ambassador said the relation between Bangladesh and Japan has been elevated to ‘Strategic Partnership’ and it has enhanced opportunities for cooperation with Japan in many areas including trade, investment and recruitment of human resources from Bangladesh. In the context of the decreasing population in Japan, the Ambassador urged Japan's manpower recruiting agencies to recruit workers from Bangladesh.
CEO of IM Japan, the co-organizer of the seminar, Hitoshi Kanamori, in his speech asserted expectations to bring more human resources from Bangladesh. President of Maruhisa Co. Ltd. Kiminobu Hiraishi, Dr. Beh Teik Jun, Clinical Strategy Director, Remedy & Company Corporation shared their business experiences in Bangladesh. JETRO Dhaka Country Representative Yuji Ando gave a video presentation on business environment in Bangladesh and prospects of Japanese companies in doing business there.
Dr. Ariful Haque, Minister (Commerce) of the Embassy highlighted trade and investment opportunities in Bangladesh as well as support services by the Embassy to Japanese investors.
Md. Zoynal Abedin, First Secretary (Labour) of the Embassy gave a presentation on ‘Bangladesh: A highly Potential Source Country of Skilled Human Resources for Japan’.
Later Chief of International Affairs Department of IM Japan Dr. Mohammad Shah Alam delivered presentation on ‘Case studies: Acceptance of Technical Interns from Bangladesh’.
Officials and representatives from Japanese entities and embassy officials were also present at the Seminar.
