The recently inaugurated rail route from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar is set to commence its commercial operations on December 1.
The train fare for this route has been officially released by Bangladesh Railway.
The finalized list shows that the minimum fare fixed is Tk 125 from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar in the 2nd (ordinary) class. On the other hand, AC berth (sleeping travel) class fare has been fixed as maximum Tk 1725.
At present, two pairs of intercity trains will be operated on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar routes from December 1. Railways will run non-stop trains on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route with coach rakes inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
Apart from this, one more train from Chattogram and suspended Chattogram-Dohazari local train service will resume in the first week. For this Bangladesh Railway has finalized the fare list of Cox's Bazar Railway from Dhaka and Chattogram.
Confirming the matter, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Zone) Mohammad Nazmul Islam said that the railway fare for Cox’s Bazar has been finalised.
According to the fare list from railway sources, the distance from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka Railway Station is 535 kilometers (km). Based on the distance, the fare of second class is 125 taka, the fare of mail or express train is Tk 170, the fare of commuter train is Tk 210, the fare of Sulov class is Tk 250, the fare of Sovhon class is Tk 420.
However, the fare of intercity Shobhan chair is Tk 500, the fare of first class chair is Tk 670, the fare of first berth class is Tk 1000, the fare of Snigdha class (AC chair) is Tk 961, the fare of AC seat is Tk 1150 and the fare of AC berth class is Tk 1725 taka.
On the other hand, the distance from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar Railway Station is 189 km. On this route, the fare for second class is Tk 55 taka, mail or express train fare is Tk 70, commuter train fare is Tk 85, Shulov class fare is Tk 105, Shovon class fare is Tk 170. In terms of intercity train, the fare of Shovon chair fare is Tk 205, first class chair fare is Tk 270, 1st berth class fare is Tk 405, Snigdha class (AC chair) fare is Tk 386, AC seat fare is Tk 466 and AC berth class fare is Tk 696.
Train from Dhaka will leave at 10:30 PM and reach Cox’s Bazar at 6:40 AM. On the way back, it will leave Cox’s Bazar at 1:00 am and reach Dhaka at 9:10 pm. It will take 8.10 hours. The train will take a 30 minute break at Chattogram station.
On the other hand, trains between Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, will leave Cox’s Bazar at 7:00 am and reach Chattogram at 10:50 pm. It will take 3.50 hours. It will leave Chattogram at 7:00 am and reach Cox’s Bazar at 10:20 am. It will take 3.20 hours.
