Dhaka sweats in sweltering heat

The temperature of Dhaka is about to break the record of the last 61 years. On April 30, 1960, the maximum temperature in Dhaka rose to 42.3 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the temperature in Dhaka rose to 40.7 degrees Celsius. This state of intense heat wave is likely to continue for a few days more. As a result, meteorologists believe that it would not be surprising to see the record of the last 61 years be broken.

On Monday, temperatures hovered above 40 degrees Celsius in five of the country's eight divisions. The day before, Rajshahi broke the country's highest temperature record held by Jashore, rising to 41.4 degrees Celsius in Badalgachhi of Rajshahi division. The temperature in Khulna division also rose to 41 degrees Celsius. However, Mymensingh and Barishal are behind these three divisions. On Monday, the temperature in Mymensingh rose to 40.5 degrees Celsius and in Barishal it rose to 40.8 degrees Celsius. Besides, the temperature in Sylhet and Rangpur divisions also stood at 39.4 degrees Celsius.

The whole country is currently burning in intense heat wave. As a result, the life of the common man has become unbearable.

At present intense heat wave is blowing in five regions of the country. The suffering of public life has been exacerbated by the intense heat.

 On April 25, the highest temperature in the country rose to 41.3 degrees, which was recorded in Jashore. This is the highest temperature recorded in the last seven years. Temperature has risen above 40 degrees in at least five places in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. The capital faced a similar scenario On Sunday. Dhaka recorded the highest temperature in the last 26 years at 39.5 degrees Celsius. Public in those areas are suffocating due to the intense heat. Meteorologists say that relative humidity is increasing the discomfort in dry weather.

However, it is believed that after three days, that is, from Friday, there may be some relief from the heat. The Meteorological Department forecasts that there is a possibility of rain or thunderstorm in the country after the next three days. This can reduce the daytime temperature across the country by 1 to 5 degrees Celsius.

The forecast further said that the weather across the country may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures across the country may rise slightly and nighttime temperatures may remain almost unchanged.

Representatives from meteorological department believe that the ongoing heat wave may continue for the next three to four days. There is a possibility of rain all over the country from April 30 or the next day. Then there is a possibility of rain in different places throughout the week. If it rains, the temperature will come down a lot. In addition, the last three-four days, the maximum temperature may remain almost unchanged. However, it may increase in Rajshahi and Khulna regions, up to a maximum of one degree.

According to the department, Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of 42 degrees Celsius on April 25, 2014.On the same day as this year, highest of the last seven years was recorded. Since then, last Sunday was the highest temperature recorded. The highest temperature ever recorded in the history of the country was 44.1 degrees Celsius, which was recorded on 16 May 1972 in Rajshahi.

The department forecast that the maximum temperature in the capital on April 25 was 39.5 degrees Celsius. This broke the record of the highest temperature of last 27 years in Dhaka. Earlier, the temperature in Dhaka last rose to 39 degrees in 1995 and after 26 years it has surpassed it on April 25. However, the highest temperature recorded in the history of Dhaka was 42.3 degrees Celsius, which was recorded on April 30, 1970.
