The Government of Bangladesh has lodged a strong protest with India over the killing of a 13-year-old Bangladeshi girl, Shwarna Das, from Juri upazila in Moulvibazar district, according to a press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The tragic incident occurred on 01 September 2024, when the Border Security Force (BSF) of India allegedly shot and killed the minor along the border.

In a formal note delivered to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bangladesh’s deep concern and condemned the brutal act.

The government highlighted that such incidents are not only deeply regrettable but also violate the Joint Indo-Bangladesh Guidelines for Border Authorities, established in

1975. Bangladesh urged India to prevent a recurrence of such incidents and called for a thorough investigation into all border-related killings. The government demanded that those responsible be identified and brought to justice.
