Most of the roads of the capital city get compact with huge number of vehicles every day. The common look of busy Dhaka is getting back despite coronavirus pandemic as almost all the institutions excepts educational institutions are open. Severe traffic jams are often seen on the city roads in recent times.
While visiting different roads of the city on Tuesday, this correspondent found that long tailbacks were common on almost every road.
Gulistan, Motijheel, Paltan, Kakrail, Shahbagh, Lalbagh, Farmgate, Bijoy Sarani, Gulshan, Banani, Badda, Uttara and some other areas of the city was full of vehicles. City dwellers had to wait for hours due to traffic jams in the city.
Monir Hossain, one of the private car drivers, said, “It is being tough to drive on the city roads as the vehicular movements are very slow. Moreover, many roads are in dilapidated condition.”

Nasrin Jahan, a service holder, said, “I often get late to go to my office due to the traffic jam. People hardly follow the traffic rules. So, getting rid of this daily burden is really uncertain in Dhaka.”
However, many people claimed that increasing of public buses, proper monitoring of the roads and strictly following traffic rules can curb the traffic jam in the city.
