The air quality of Dhaka is feared to be ‘unhealthy’ for the next six days from today (Sunday), USA-based AQI forecasts.

The value of the air quality index (AQI) in the capital was 127 on Saturday. The air quality of Dhaka was classified as ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’.

From November 15 to 20, the air quality of Dhaka is feared to be ‘unhealthy’. Everyone including the asthma patients, children, people with breathing difficulties, older people are suggested to stay at home as the air quality will be unhealthy. It may cause serious health problems to many.

When AQI values are between 101 and 150, members of sensitive groups may experience health effects, but the general public is unlikely to be affected. When the values are between 151 and 200, the air quality of an area is considered as ‘unhealthy’. Air quality between 201 and 300 is classified as ‘very unhealthy’. If the score is between 301 and 500, then it is classified as ‘hazardous’.

The AQI, an index for reporting daily air quality, informs people how clean or polluted the air of a certain city is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for them.
