Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday instructed the officials concerned to continue the country’s ongoing development works as well as protect themselves from the deadly coronavirus.
“Don’t panic and be aware; we need to cooperate to raise awareness,” she said while presiding over a meeting of National Economic Council (NEC) at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
At the meeting, the NEC approved the Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) involving a Tk 1,92,921 crore for the current fiscal year giving the highest priority to transport sector.
Planning Minister MA Mannan briefed the media after the meeting.
Mannan said the overall RADP size stood at Tk 2,01,198.56 crore after incorporating Tk 8,277.56 crore funding against 103 projects of the autonomous bodies and organisations.
The RADP went down to Tk 1,92,921 crore after excluding the fund of the autonomous bodies and organisations, he added.
Of the amount, some Tk 1,30,921 crore would come from the government exchequer while the rest Tk 62,000 crore from foreign fund.
The minister said the total number of projects under the RADP now stands at 1,846 including 1,597 investment projects, 143 technical assistance one and a project from the JDCF.
The size of ADP for the current fiscal was at Tk 2,02,721 crore and Tk 9,800 crore was downsized from the project assistance portion in the revised ADP.
According to Planning Commission sources, the transport sector received the highest RADP allocation of Tk 47,432 crore.
It was followed by physical planning, water supply and housing sector Tk 26,840 crore, power sector Tk 23,632 crore, education and religious sector Tk 20,424 crore, science and ICT sector Tk 16,791 crore, rural development and rural institution sector Tk 15,755 crore, health, nutrition, population and family welfare sector Tk 10,109 crore, agriculture sector Tk 6,609 crore, water sector Tk 6,368 crore and public administration sector Tk 5,147 crore.
