‘Development of backward communities get priority’

Keeping in mind that a plan that cannot ensure services to backward classes will not work, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Sunday said, in order to build a prosperous Bangladesh, priority is being given to the development of the backward communities, reports BSS.

It is imperative to bring people from all walks of life under development activities, the minister said, adding that desired development goals of the government could not be achieved by excluding the backward people.

Nuruzzaman was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of primary school expansion and hostel construction programme for residential education and rehabilitation of children of Banishanta Jowno Polli in Dakop upazila of Khulna district organized by Khulna district administration on a virtual platform Sunday.

The minister said the initiative taken by the Khulna district administration to rehabilitate the children of the Jowno Polli through education would be an example in improving the living standard of the backward and neglected people.

He urged all to work together for the implementation of the social security programs adopted by the Prime Minister for the helpless and backward people.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain presided over the function while Whip Panchanan Biswas and Gloria Jharna Sarkar, MP were present there as special guests.
