Development projects need to be rigorously reviewed before being placed for approval as the common people are providing revenue from their hard work, Planning Minister MA Mannan said on Tuesday.
“The issue must be raised impartially. The days of fear are over. In an independent country, everyone will live with their heads held high. Work, keep your head up,” he mentioned.
The Planning Minister came up with the statement while speaking at a workshop at the NEC conference room in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.
The Department of Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (IMED) organized the workshop.
Mannan said work has to be done quickly, we should not keep files idle.
We have to work by applying the best talent at the right time, he said adding, “People are proving revenue continuously, we are pretty good at that money. But if you don't do the right work, nothing happens for the development of the country.”
Regarding the Al-Jazeera report, the planning minister said, “Occasionally dust storms arise, it is temporary. The rest of the time everything is clear. We will continue to work. But we have to be careful of these storms,” he mentioned.
He said praise is good but overeating is not good. The work must be done with respect, he said adding that the tendency to give flowers to guests at events should be gradually eliminated.
IMED Secretary Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty presided over the Workshop on Intensive Monitoring of Selected Ongoing Projects for FY 2020-21 and Impact Assessment of Completed Projects.
Gazi Saifuzzaman, Additional Secretary of the IMED and Ahsanullah on behalf of the consulting firm spoke on the occasion.
Chakraborty said, “Amid corona epidemic, these projects are being evaluated with the help of the revenue sector. The government has not stopped this work.
We have taken great care in project selection, he said, adding, “ I would like to see how effective the ECNEC approved projects in the areas of health, education and infrastructure are. “
He also said that the activities of the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) in Coronavirus pandemic were not stopped for a second.
