German-based media company Deutsche Welle Academy and Article 19 are going to launch an online course titled ‘Communication Strategy Training’. The course will teach about various national and international laws related to the media, application of ethics in journalism and practical knowledge on digital security.
Article 19, a British Human Rights Charity defending freedom of expression and information around the world, organised a discussion in the capital on Sunday in this connection. Professor Dr Asif Nazrul of Dhaka University; Rubayet Mollika Rahman, Senior Consultant, Article 19; Shahnawaz, Program Officer, Article 19; Md Tawfiq Ahmed, Director, Center for Law and Policy Affairs; Wasiq Mohammad Istiyak, a faculty member of State University; among others, attended the programme.
At the discussion, speakers said that the global media is changing rapidly and Bangladesh is also being affected by the change. As a result, media personnel are constantly being subjected to new ideas and strategies to be used in the professional field. It is becoming imperative for media personnel to be aware of the use of various national and international laws related to media, the application of ethics in journalism, the multifaceted risks of using new media or social media, they added.
