The dengue situation has been deteriorating day by day in the country amid the coronavirus surge. The Department of Health fears that the dengue situation might get worsened in August compared to July.

DGHS spokesperson Nazmul Islam expressed his concern over the issue in the department’s regular health bulletin on Wednesday.

He said “We have identified 788 dengue patients in the first three days of August. Therefore, observing the situation, it can be said that the number of dengue patients may increase in August”.

He further said that dengue outbreak takes an alarming turn with the advent of the rainy season.

“In 2019, we experienced a severe dengue epidemic. We are facing quite a similar situation in 2021. However, hopefully we can deal with it by taking quick actions”, he added. He also mentioned some preventive measures to fight the outbreak of dengue.

“Everyone must discard the water accumulated inside and outside the house, including the water in flower tubs in their houses. The use of mosquito net is a must while sleeping to prevent dengue,” he said.

He also advised everyone to wear clothes that cover the body to prevent mosquito bites.

He also suggested taking an NS1 antigen test, if anyone suffers from fever and other symptoms of Dengue.
